A Casual Affair with Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini’s SS16

It seems that little by little we are seeing more ethereal and romantic pieces walking down the runway and escaping the modern cuts and austere styling that became the hype in 2010. To be completely honest, the minimal look was — and still is — not my favorite. I agonized each time I stepped into my local Zara back then only to find myself in a sea of black, white and color-blocked clothes. Luckily, it seems that this period of perpetual simplicity is near its end (at least for now).

You can say this was a period where my fashion boundaries were pushed to extreme and different extents. From finally venturing to local vintage — high and low — in search for the perfect romantic blouse to finding a seamstress who would elaborate the perfect spring dress according to my desires.

While that was a period of introspection, where I realized the austere look wasn’t a style I would don out confidently, I’m utterly excited it is finally over. Numerous designers have finally jettisoned the modern look in search for a softer, delicate and more feminine girl. Although the brand Philosophy — traditionally known as Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti —  has long been known for its romantic style, it is worth mentioning for all those who don’t — but should — know about the brand, that it has been given a refresh thanks to its new creative designer Lorenzo Serafini.

And so, without further ado I bring you my favorite looks from this collection…

From top Left: A blazer with ruffled edges, a flirtatious sweater/romper and crossbody wicker bag with leather straps, a romantic sweater style blouse is toughened up with wide denim pants and suspenders, a see through dress with english toile print, a classic black and white combination perfect for an Italian aperitivo.

Gossamer-like long sleeve dresses, slips and blouses take center stage.

It’s all about the legs! Short shorts are another must for this upcoming season according to Lorenzo Serafini. Get them in crochet or broderie anglaise for an equally romantic look.

As if his clothes weren’t enough, Serafini places wicker bags right back on trend but this time with an utterly chic leather strap perfect for a picnic to welcome the 2016 spring season.
